Old Town

The very center and the hearth of Dubrovnik, the whole old city being a monument protected by UNESCO and being th center of day and night life it is desirable destination to stay at for most visitors.

Pros:

• Old town is the very hearth of all day and night life, everything is within walking distance
• Unique experience of spending night within the Old town walls where everything remains the same for centuries
• Main city beach just outside the old city, good bus connection with all other parts of Dubrovnik
  
  

Cons:

• Higher accommodation prices
• Many accomodation units do not have a view due the the tight building layout
• Lots of tourists and street noise (even though the whole city is pedestrian area only)

Ploce

The most elite part of Dubrovnik east from the Old City, residential and 5 star hotel area (hotels Excelsior, Argentina, Villa Dubrovnik, Belvedere).

Pros:

• Most elite hotels, private villas and apartments
• Great view of the Old City and lokrum island/open sea

Cons:

• High prices, especially hotels
• Bad bus connections
• Lots of stairs/steps from some places to Old City and back

Pile (Kono, Ilijina Glavica)

The area outside the old City and to the west, area of Old Dubrovnik aristoracy summer mentions, beutiful gardens, Hilton Hotel etc.

Pros:

• Great bus connections
• Walking distance to the old city
• Old restored small hotels and villas

Cons:

• Lots of stairs/steps from some places to Old City and back
• Noise (if located by the main road)

Lapad Bay (Babin Kuk)

Lapad Bay is residential area with numerous big and small hotels as well as private acommodation units located 4-5 km from the Old Town. Many beaches, restaurants, long wlaking paths along the sea and other activities make this area very attractive for visitors coming to Dubrovnik for a longer period of stay.

Pros:

• Nice nature, away from the Old Town rush
• Good bus connections to the Old Town
• Numerous beches, hidden coves with great sunsets

Cons:

• Distance from the center
• No night life

Gruz

Port and main bus terminal area, continuing to business center of Dubrovnik and more residential areas.

Pros:

• Much lower accommodation prices than in other parts
• Close to Bus terminal and Dubrovnik port
• Good bus connections

Cons:

• Gruz is not a tourist area
• Distance from the Old Town
• No beaches around
