St. Jakov walk
The first on our list is the St.Jakov walk, that spreads all the way from hotel Argentina to St. Jakov’s church. On your right side you will notice Vila Seherezada, one of the most particular buildings in Dubrovnik. With its blue cupola it’s impossible to miss it. Keep walking and ask passerby about the beach Djivovici and famous Betina Cave. You shouldn’t miss these two locations. You will be amazed with their history and interesting legends. If you pass the little church at the end of the walk you will find the hidden treasure- the ”secret paradise”- St Jakov’s beach. Muuuch less crowded than Banje beach.. The sea is super clear, very clean and blue. Please note, you have to walk down 163 steps to get there, it can get difficult in the sun- but it’s SO worth it!!! Your loved one will be amazed with so many beautiful places only a mile away from the Old Town.
The hole in the wall
Popular “hole-in-the-wall” bar or “cold-drinks” bar (as stated on the sign near entrance), Buza is the only bar that is located on the cliffs by the City Walls. Buza isn’t mentioned in all tourist brochures.However, it’s still a little private corner of Dubrovnik where you can enjoy the beautiful view with your special one or even swim in the Adriatic sea. At night, this place becomes so romantic thanks to the sounds of Frank Sinatra… Could you even think of a more romantic spot?
Trip to Korcula Old City
Korcula, known as Little Dubrovnik, is definitely worth a trip for couples. Porporela
Although it’s located in the Old town, Porporela can be pretty lonely spot and that is the exact reason why we like it a lot – you can sit there on the bench and gaze to sea and Lokrum, listening to sea waves, seagulls and really enjoy the moment… During the afternoon hours it becomes a local beach, but in the night it’s always been very popular among the love couples. Why? It’s quiet, romantic – and dark 🙂
Fortress Lovrijenac
Don’t miss Lovrijenac Fortress which is located across the city walls. It’s placed on 37 metre high cliff. This fort is definitely one of the oldest monuments in Dubrovnik (dates all the way to 11th century). Due to many reasons it has been rebuilt, made larger and stronger but it always kept its original appearance. It’s also known under the name “Dubrovnik’s Gibraltar” thank sto that big rock under it. There’s also an interesting legend that it was constructed by the Dubrovnik people in less than three months. Why? Well, the city was under threat to be conquered by Venice. The history of it is pretty fantastic but the most important reason it’s on our list is because it’s the perfect place to go for a quiet walk away from the crowds. Nature and the magnificent stone architecture will take your breath away.
